Coase Lecture—Perceptions, mindsets and beliefs shaping policy views
摘要
How do perceptions, mindsets, and beliefs influence policy views? In this lecture, I present a simple conceptual framework that highlights the roles of different factors (such as self interest and broader social concerns, fairness views, or mindsets) in shaping policy views. I then present evidence from large‐scale social economics surveys and experiments, for four policy areas—taxation, inflation management, trade, and climate action. The experimental show that information that addresses people's concerns about fairnes.
