Local incentive compatibility in ordinally restricted type-spaces
摘要
This paper explores the relationship between different notions of local incentive compatibility (LIC) and incentive compatibility (IC) within ordinally restricted type-spaces. We introduce the concepts of ordinal local–global equivalence (OLGE) and cardinal local–global equivalence (CLGE) environments, establishing their equivalence in the context of strict ordinally restricted type-spaces. We then extend our analysis to type-spaces that admit indifference, where we define almost everywhere IC and strong LIC, and provide the necessary and sufficient condition for their equivalence. Additionally, we present a framework for minimally checking the IC property of a mechanism in any ordinally restricted type-space, showing that the set of incentive constraints between local types and boundary types together form a minimal set of incentive constraints ensuring (full) incentive compatibility.
