摘要

Persistent declines in U.S. fluid milk consumption raise questions about how consumers trade off environmental attributes against traditional drivers such as price and taste. This study examines U.S. consumer milk attribute priorities using BestÐWorst Scaling and latent class models applied to survey data from 1,043 consumers. The results indicate that price and taste dominate milk purchasing decisions, while environmental impact is secondary for most consumers. However, a distinct subsetÑmore prevalent among half_gallon purchasersÑassigned meaningful importance to environmental attributes. Overall, sustainability preferences were segmented and context_dependent rather than market_wide drivers of demand.
