Willingness to Pay for Water Quality Improvements to a Recreational Reservoir
摘要
Valuation for water quality improvements in reservoirs is notably understudied. This paper estimates the willingness to pay (WTP) for water quality improvements in Table Rock Lake, a recreational reservoir whose watershed spans multiple Midwest states. Using a choice experiment survey supported by process-based water quality models, we estimate the value of increased water clarity and reduced days of beach closures. The analysis also examines the taxing entityÕs impact on WTP estimates. We provide WTP estimates for benefit transfer researchers for similar recreational reservoirs and insights into how the taxing authority impacts WTP estimates.
